Love these markers!
Originally I wanted markers to keep all of my different Iris varieties straight. I started out with those plastic plant markers you can get from anywhere, and found that within a year the permanent marker had bleached off and in some cases the sun and made the marker itself fall apart. My next attempt was wood markers, wanting to avoid plastic, and those predictably fell apart even faster.
That's when I finally found out about metal markers and started looking around and where best to buy them. Everyone was selling the tin kind, but when I saw copper I had to have it! Copper is beautiful shiny, but it's also beautiful as it ages and gains a patina. Now I not only have all my irises labeled, I have labeled all the plants I added to my garden AND a couple of natives that grew in naturally. It's nice to label the natives so that if you have a crank neighbor who yells at you for weeds (and I do have that neighbor!), the sign helps signal "no, these are not weeds, we LIKE this plant!"
I used the paint pen that's sold at this store to write on my labels, since I was again concerned about sun bleaching. I soon realized I didn't need to be concerned about bleaching at all. Why? The paint prevents patina from forming where you have written your letters, so even if you use acetone on the label afterwards, the old name remains! This means I'll never have to try to figure out what exactly I have planted anywhere that the labels exists. And it is still possible to reuse those labels for something new in the future, if your old plant dies. Just use metal polishing cream on the label until its shiny again and the old letters disappear. I ended up doing this with a label that I decided was too sloppy and wanted to re-do.
I bought 125 labels so far and I think I'm going to need more. I keep thinking of new things to label, and I have 17 more irises to be delivered in fall - if I use up the 25 I have left before the new plants arrive you best believe I'm going to order more. -

C Series Copper Garden Markers
I've ordered various garden markers over the years. Most are flimsy and the tags pop off within one season. However, these are by far the best ones I've found. Both the label and stake is much thicker and should hold up much better! Very nicely made product!
